This February Activity Calendar for 3rd grade is perfect for third and fourth graders who need multiplication and division fluency practice! Hands-on learning activities that get students excited about multiplication and division!
This calendar can be used with each activity on the day it’s listed, or you can do the activities in a way that best matches your schedule and your students’ needs! Many of these activities can be done repeatedly throughout the month for more reinforcement of multiplication and division concepts as well. You can follow the calendar plan as listed, with one activity of each type throughout the week, or you can use the blank calendar to customize it to meet the needs of your class.
These activities were specially designed for 3rd grade students to help build multiplication and division fluency and conceptual understanding with visual models, contextual story problems, games and more. The weekly activities are separated into categories, with a color heart symbol representing the category. The categories included in this February math activity calendar are:
- Red Heart: math games that are great for math centers and partner play
- Light Pink Heart: visual models that are great for whole-group and small-group instruction and hands-on review
- Light Purple Heart: math crafts that combine a fun seasonal craft with multiplication and division concepts
- Bright Pink Heart: recycled material math activities that utilize easy-to-find recyclables to build fluency and understanding
- Bright Purple Heart: discussion topics that are great for group discussion for building real-world mathematical understanding.
The games, visual models, crafts and activities in this activity calendar are all aligned to standards 3.OA.A.3 and 3.OA.C.7 and focus on multiplication and division fluency. On each heart on the top of the activity card there is information about whether it is best for whole group, small group, partners or individual practice. If you are using this activity calendar for homeschool, all activities can be done one-on-one, individually or with just teacher/child.
Each activity includes an activity card (pages 9-18) which explains the activity. It can be printed and cut out/laminated or you can just use the cards on the computer and then set up the activity. The following page includes a list of materials needed for these activities; however, all activities can be modified with materials you already have at home/in the classroom. Resources are also included for activities that require recording sheets or game boards.
It is aligned to standards 3.OA.A.3, and 3.OA.C.7.
